Mocktails for Moms-To-Be

The safest choice for mom and baby is to drink no alcohol during pregnancy and breast feeding.  There is no safe time to drink alcohol and no known safe amount to consume.  If you are planning on getting pregnant, the best option is to stop drinking while trying to conceive.  During the summer months, when it is more common to enjoy a cool cocktail, here are some tasty non-alcoholic choices for moms-to-be.  Here are also some healthy guidelines to follow (www.alcoholfreepregnancy.com):

-          Use 100% pure fruit juice

-          Use frozen yogurt or crushed ice instead of ice cream

-          Use almond milk instead of milk or cream

-          Use sparkling water instead of pop

-          Limit juice intake to 4 oz per serving
